PILOT / ESCORT SERVICE DRIVER REQUIREMENTS
900.1. Every person who drives an escort vehicle to escort overdimensional/permitted loads in the state of Utah must meet the following requirements: Be a min. of 18 yrs. of age; possess a valid driver’s license for the state or jurisdiction in which he/she is a resident.; Drivers domiciled in this state shall have completed Utah's 8-hr. escort driver course of instruction approved by the Utah Dept. of Transportation and accredited by the Specialized Carrier and Rigging Association (SC&RA). The course shall be presented either by UDOT personnel or others authorized by the Dept. NOTE: SC&RA accredited courses include Utah, Virginia, Florida, Washington and Colorado; Drivers domiciled outside of Utah must present evidence of having completed any such course accredited by SC&RA.; Fulfill the UDOT requirements for flag person certification and therefore may function as flag persons during over dimensional load movement operations. NOTE: Escort certification may be suspended or revoked for violation of any of these Utah Regulations, or for other offenses.
